Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis are two iconic figures of action cinema with whom we would like not to be in conflict. However, both of them have not hesitated to go to war publicly. A look back at this story that almost ended in bloodshed.
The Expendables movies are, roughly speaking, the Avengers movies that bring together the big guns of Hollywood. In one and the same film, we can find Jason Statham, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis . Moreover, the latter have always had a rather cordial relationship, before things got complicated during the preparation of the third part.
Indeed, fans of the franchise were surprised not to see Church, played by Bruce Willis, in Expendables 3 . And his absence would be the consequence of a disagreement, to say the least explosive, which occurred off camera. According to rumors, Bruce Willis would have agreed to return on the condition of having a significant increase. A request that made Sylvester Stallone furious.
Sylvester Stallone pushed Bruce Willis out the door following disagreement over Expendables 3
The conflict could have been confidential if Sylvester Stallone had not taken to Twitter to fire off a first shot. In 2013, the American actor flew into a rage, writing ” greedy and lazy… A sure formula for career failure .”
A cryptic message that confused fans, who quickly understood that he was talking about Bruce Willis. Some time later, Stallone announced on the social network that the hero of The Sixth Sense would no longer be part of the team of musclemen and that he was therefore looking for a replacement for Expendables 3 .
The reason? The actor who played Church allegedly asked Sylvester Stallone for a raise. Instead of earning $3 million, Bruce Willis allegedly asked for $1 million more , which Stallone allegedly refused. A behavior that Stallone allegedly didn’t appreciate to the point of firing him. Today, much water seems to have flowed under the bridge and this story is now a distant memory.
